Ouch...and ouch again
Oliver is a very daring little boy. After skidding lessons with dad in the cultisac, Oliver thought he could skid down the sloped driveway, panicked, and took his feet off the pedals. Ben was right by him, and caught him by the collar...but the newly trimmed shrubs still took quite a toll and his little face. I am glad Oliver caught him at least a little...he could have gotten his eyes. But he still has some battle wounds poor thing. Then a few days later, he was at school, fell of the swing and bit through his lip! Seriously, I was waiting for social services to call. Poor guy...I don't know if I can survive having a boy...

Isabelle Field Trip & Fall Party
Isabelle's class had a field trip to Tipton Haynes Farm. It is a preserved area that represents what it was like during civil war time. It is a beautiful area...and the kids had so much fun, especially making paper and punching tin.
I am room mom for Isabelle's class...the fall party was a blast with cupcake decorating, a scavenger hunt, trail mix making, pumpkin painting, a cauldron of rootbeer and lots of treats!

Spirit Week & Carnival
The girls had Spirit Week at school...with dress up days each day...and ending in the Carnival.
I was on the art committee which has it's biggest responsibility for Carnival. I made a bunch of pottery to be auctioned off...there was one for each class. And for one of the kindergarten classes I made a quilt. I used their hands and fingerprints to make different insects (their theme for the year) ...and it auctioned off for almost $600...the highest auctioned item! The kids had a blast at the carnival and are so excited for their new school!
Izzie was a super model....and Allie was a zookeeper :)

Just Like Dad
Oliver has started copying men he admires. He has always tried to copy Ben...how he sat...what he wore...what he liked. Oliver has expanded that habit over the summer. He met "Jelly"...Joey, Stephanie (my partner's son) is a body builder like his dad...and in the sweltering heat the older boys would take off their shirts while they worked. Oliver decided he needed to be just like Jelly...so the shirt was off. Although, it worked for making him eat vegetables and potty training. We simply would say that Jelly did it :) He wants to be big...like Luke (Stephanie's 14 year old). He wants to wear the same shirt as Uncle Jon...
But, in the end, his daddy is still his idol. He was so excited to wear matching shirts and play soccer just like him. And when Ben surprised him with a matching JEEP...well he was ecstatic. They have been able to spend a lot of alone time lately and he is growing into such a little man. I love that they are so close...and he wants to grow up to be just like his dad.

Alexandra's Zoo Field Trip
When Alexandra's field trip said they were going on a field trip to the zoo...I was surprised because the closest zoo is an hour and a half away, I thought....but it was only 10 minutes from our house, who knew? As I drove along the country road through the fields...all of the sudden there I saw a sign for a zoo, there in the middle of the country! It is a "by appointment only" zoo. But it has an amazing array of animals. The kids had a blast. They were allowed to feed the giraffes...and the they got to go into the cage with the birds to feed them nectar!
