Allie...and the Barbie Cake

I let Allie pick any cake she wanted for her actual birthday...there was no theme because we already had the party. And this Barbie cake straight out of the 70's was her choice.
She LOVED it. She even had a sixteen candles moment :)

Easter Lesson

Ben and I teach the CTR 4 class in the junior primary. So, we were in charge of the Easter lesson and the Easter egg hunt at church. My cute Allie is in CTR5 so we had her with us. It was the week before Easter because of conference. The week after Easter...our ward has their Easter program, Izzie is singing. So, it is like a month of Easter!

Allie's Birthday Beach Bash

Alexandra's birthday fell in the middle of spring break this year, so we had a family party with her cousins. She wanted a beach party! So, we met at Huntington Beach for a fun-filled beach bash, complete with a "sandcastle" cake. This is what it looked like on arrival to the beach...
...this is what it looked like earlier that morning...Allie confessed that it just smelled soooo good. So, I baked another and got pictures right away when we got there.
...and good thing I did, because this is what I found...his only response, "mmmm, good."
They got to playing right away....
...there were ladybugs EVERYWHERE!
...Allie loves wallowing...
...Izzie collected tiny clams...we only realized 3 days later that they were alive, after they started stinking up the garage.
...Ollie checkin out the scenery...
...we met the cousins...Nate (the one with the blonde hair) and Izzie are only 3 weeks apart.
...Oliver and Jimmy were up there crackin' up at something. They are only 6 weeks apart, but just recently have they been breaking off on their own to play. They were so cute, blowing bubbles, telling jokes, going up to girls on the beach, chasing each other around...
...Allie and Will are only 4 weeks apart and they are best friends. They get along so well, when I asked who she wanted to invite to her party she said "William" and I asked if that was it, to which she replied, "yep".
Andrew is a couple years older than Izzie and Nate. He and Izzie were boogie boarding most the afternoon, although she outlasted him...by the way it was freezing water.
Oliver's new pastime...throwing sand...
Allie got a new kite....

Allie posing with her new beach barbie, from William. Here they are laying out together.
Her barbie and her with shades....
...her barbie and her buried in the sand...
...and last but NOT least, TK BURGER!!!!! Allie's party actually fell on my birthday, so this is for me! The best burger ever...yes, definitely better than in 'n' out!

We brought the treat for Fantastic Friday...Oliver made himself right at home...

She passed out her chocolate dipped and sprinkled rice krispie treats at the end of the day...

Kindergarten Class of 2010

Allie's Kindergarten class replaced the large tree in the front of the school that had been blown down in a storm. The 5 and 6 year olds were so proud to contribute...they each threw on some dirt...it was the start of a great day for Allie...she was busy bee (the class helper), I did fantastic Friday (see next post), and they celebrated her birthday in class, and it was the last day before spring break...she was a happy girl.

Rainbow Harbor

Isabelle's class went on a field trip to Rainbow Harbor in Long Beach. I almost didn't let her go...I am paranoid that something horrible will happen if I'm not there...the normal crazy mom bit. But I got over it and let her go. She called me on her phone from the boat to tell me this was the best day of her life:

There were hundreds of dolphins playing and jumping around the boat...

They caught a bunch of sea life for the kids to touch and observe and then threw it back in...

She saw the Queen Mary...

And she lived to tell about it :) She was sweet and called me to reassure me that they were back on land safe and sound. I had sent our "emergency cell phone" with her...she calls it "her phone"...whatever works. But she had a great time, and it really was a cool field trip, I tell you I love her school.

Kindergarten Play...with designs by Allie's mom

That's right you read that right... I don't know how it happened exactly, it was all a blur. I was feeling guilty for not being in Allie's class as a helper lately...we were late that day and I had to take her in to drama. So, I offered to Miss Morris (the kindergarten teacher) to make the other duck costumes while I made Allie's. The drama teacher jumped down from the stage and was so excited I was helping with costumes. I felt so happy I had offered, until she proceeded to list off the 22 costumes that needed to be made, oh and can you have them done in a week...great. I was in shock, so I just nodded and smiled. It wouldn't have even been that bad, but Oliver got the call that he got the Huggies commercial, so there went Wednesday and Thursday. I started late Friday night, then Saturday, I had the afternoon. We got them all done by 5, and were showered and dressed in time for "Fiddler on the Roof" that evening. Thanks to Ben, my creative assistant, and the girls, my sizing models. (Yes, half of the class is Izzie's size) But I think they turned out pretty good...The drama teacher suggested that I do this more often....um, no. Allie was very proud, a sewing mom is very rare here in LA. I actually was asked several times if I was a costume designer. Nope...just a personal stylist, maid, cook, and driver for 3 little ones, not quite as glamorous :)

This is Allies big acting debut...one of the "Ducks" in "The Farmer Lost his Hat"...they all just had one little line, but they were sure cute with their feather bums...
